The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. | May 27-28: Doors Open Toronto St Matthew’s has been chosen again to participate in Doors Open, a festival of Toronto’s great buildings. We open our doors and invite the city to come in and see our beautiful church. This year, the theme is Music. Our choir will be singing some of the great music of our Anglican tradition on Sunday, May 28 in the afternoon. Stay for coffee hour and enjoy the music! We welcome volunteers to greet people both Saturday and Sunday. Please speak to Meaghan Candy and Anthony Granville if you can help. Thanks to Sam and our choir for a glorious Evensong last Sunday evening. We hope to offer Choral Evensong again so that you all have an opportunity to participate in this lovely Anglican service. Thank you also to the Trinity Bach Project for a magnificent evening of Bach and Brahms last night, here at St. Matthew’s. Stay tuned for the next concert! Mother Catherine will be away next Sunday, May 21st. She and Sarah are on a mother-daughter trip to Wales, following the ancient pilgrimage route from Chepstow to St. David’s along the Pembrokeshire Coast. We hope to worship in the medieval cathedral church of St. David’s next Sunday and will take your greetings to the people there. Fr. Trent will celebrate the service here and be available May 15-27 in case of pastoral emergency. |
Thank you to St. Matthew’s The Kishibe family have been deeply moved by the love and support we have received from our friends at St. Matthew’s. We especially appreciate the pastoral visits Mtr. Catherine and Fr. Trent made to Kaye’s bedside during his last days. We are also very grateful for Audrey Chan’s assistance in conveying the funeral arrangements to as many parishioners as she could. The beautiful bouquet that all of you at St. Matthew’s gave in memory of Kaye has given us great pleasure. A heart-felt thank you from all of us. |
