In 2015 the people of St. Matthew’s decided that it is time. It is time to look beyond our walls, beyond our own lives and reach out to people far away living in despair and hopelessness. There are people thousands of miles away, unable to live in their own homes, forced to flee and to rely on the handouts of aid agencies.
We are so blessed by them and they feel blessed by their new life in Canada.
After a year-and-a-half of organizing and overwhelming support from the community,
St. Matthew’s along with our friends at
St. Augustine of Cantebury were delighted to welcome a family of five from Syria in early 2016.
They are a grandmother, husband and wife, and two wonderful little girls. They have settled all together in North York where they attend an Armenian Orthodox Church and where their daughter can go to the Armenian school. They are all very busy studying English and are very proud of their progress thus far.
We are so blessed by them and they feel blessed by their new life in Canada.
The sponsorship lasts until the end of January 2017 at which point our committee will initiate the sponsorship of another family.
Thank you to everyone who has made this and is making this possible.
