I will sing the LORD’s praise,
for he has been good to me.
- Psalm 13:6
"Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice."− 1 Chronicles 16:8-10
"Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise."− Psalm 47:6-7
"Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn–shout for joy before the LORD, the King."− Psalm 98:4-6
Make a Joyful Noise
The Scriptures exhort us to rejoice and sing to God! The reasons for this are many and varied. For the verses above we see that singing serves to proclaim and make known God’s wonderful acts, and it manifests the rejoicing of our hearts. We see also that we sing because God has been good to us and because he is not only our King but King of all the earth. To sing to God is to sing to the exalted King of the Universe who holds the earth in His hand. Singing is thus a big part of our worship and life here at St. Matthew’s!
For Adults & Children
At St. Matthew’s we have two growing and vibrant choirs, one for adults and one for children. These choirs help to lead us in our singing during our Sunday worship. If you’d like to get involved in the choir, or have your children involved, talk to David on Sunday or contact us!Get Involved
